Supporters of the CNRP gathered in their thousands riding moto’s and filling tuk tuks on the streets of Siem Reap today to celebrate the return of self-exiled opposition politician Sam Rainsey. They chanted ‘change’, ‘7777’ (the partys number), called for the ‘sun to rise’ and the ‘young bamboo to grow strong.’
A local man, with tears in his eyes, explained to me that the ‘people here, they buy their own gas, other party’s they pay for them to come, $5 or $10, but these people they come because their hearts tell them.’
